Salt Lake City is the capital of Utah, situated in a valley between the Wasatch Mountains and the Great Salt Lake. It was founded by Mormon pioneers in 1847 and is the world headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, while also serving as a major outdoor recreation gateway and host of the 2002 Winter Olympics.
