Norfolk is an independent city in southeastern Virginia, situated at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay where the James, Elizabeth, and Nansemond rivers meet. It is the home of the world's largest naval base, Naval Station Norfolk, and serves as a major center for NATO operations.
