Durango is a city in southwestern Colorado situated at an elevation of about 2,000 meters in the Animas River valley at the base of the San Juan Mountains. It is known for the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, a heritage steam railway, and its proximity to Mesa Verde National Park.
