Porto is the second-largest city in Portugal, located along the Douro River estuary in the northwest of the country. It is the namesake of the nation and of port wine, which has been produced and stored in the Vila Nova de Gaia cellars across the river for centuries, and its historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
